The aim of Agrael, Association of Graphic Industries and Book Exporters, is to defend and represent the interests of large Spanish graphic arts companies and, in particular, boost the export of graphic products and the international promotion of books. The double business and cultural dimension is characteristic of Agrael. From the business point of view, it is necessary to highlight that the associated companies comprise the fundamental nucleus of a sector that, in terms of turnover and employment, ranks among the top five industrial sectors in Spain. In fact, during the 2000 financial year it surpassed a turnover of 6,000 million euros with approximately 90,000 workers directly employed in the sector. Likewise, this is due to the high investment allocated to increase advanced technological applications required for today's printing processes. With regard to the export volume, it is worth highlighting that the associate companies of Agrael surpassed a total of 280 million euros in 2001 with the export of graphic products. |
From
the cultural point of view, Agrael actively
participates in the international promotion of books and reading in the
Spanish language, through its association with the Book Chamber, as Graphics
Section, and in close collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Education,
through the General Board of Books.
The associate companies that form part of Agrael include both large national corporations and small to medium-sized businesses. Thus, a significant number of members are linked to large international communications and graphic arts groups, such as BERTELSMANN, QUEBECOR, POLESTAR, PRISA, MONDADORI, among others. Of the associated companies of this group the following can be cited ROTEDIC, EUROHUECO, COBRHI, CAYFOSA QUEBECOR, ALTAIR, MATEU&CROMO, ALTAMIRA POLESTAR, POLESTAR HELIOCOLOR, POLESTAR HISPÁNICA, GRÁFICAS TOLEDO. Also, small to medium-sized
Spanish family-run businesses collaborate in Agrael including, RUÁN,
EDELVIVES, PRINTONE, GRÁFICAS ESTELLA, GRAFICROMO, LERNER PRINTING,
GRÁFICAS PEÑALARA, among others, with a turnover
over of 3,000 million pesetas. |
